
Mayor Luther W. Maddox was elected to a new four year term on November 06, 2007 after serving on the Jonesboro City Council for six years. Mayor Maddox was born in Lovejoy Georgia. He started school at Jonesboro Elementary in 1947 and graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1959.
After 30+ year career with the Ford Motor Company, Mayor Maddox retired as a Production Engineer in June 1995. While retired for ½ of a day, he started a consulting company – Q-1 Customer Service, which he ran until the Ford Plant closed in October of 2006. He then retired again.
Mayor Maddox attended and graduated from Clayton State College by attending night classes. While taking advantage of all the educational classes and seminars that Ford offered, and since being elected to the City Council in 1999, Mayor Maddox pursued taking numerous classes offered by the Georgia Municipal Association related to City Government functions.
Mayor Maddox and his wife are members of the Jonesboro First Baptist Church and the Jonesboro Historical Society. He is also a member of the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge.
