CITY OF
JONESBORO The City of Jonesboro Mayor and Council held their monthly council meeting on Monday, January 8, 2007. The meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. at the Jonesboro Police Station, 170 South Main Street, Jonesboro, Georgia. Council Present: Roger Grider Luther Maddox Clarence Mann Linda Wenz Bobby Wiggins Rick Yonce Mayor Joy Day Staff Present: Sam Durrance, Public Works Director Wayne Rowland, Interim Police Chief Mayor Day called the meeting to
order, followed by the pledge of allegiance.
Minutes of December 2006 meetings were approved as written. [December 11,
2006 meeting, Regular Council Meeting, Motion:
Wenz, 2nd: Grider- Vote: Unanimous with the exception of Maddox
abstaining, due to absence from meeting] [December 22, 2006 Called Council
Meeting, Motion: Grider, 2nd:
Wiggins- Vote: Unanimous]. Public Comments were delivered by Travis
Cantrell, Beverly Lester, Daniel Hudson, and Larry Boak. The meeting agenda was
amended unanimously in order to add two items: Consider Adoption of Budget 2007
and Consider Home Occupation at 107 Batiste Park Road. [Motion: Maddox, 2nd: Mann] The council voted unanimously to
go into executive session to discuss litigation, personnel matters, and possible
real estate acquisition [Motion: Yonce, 2nd:
Grider]. Following executive session the council voted unanimously to resume
regular session [Motion: Maddox, 2nd: Wenz]. Council unanimously approved
the appointment of Wayne Rowland as Chief of Police for the City of Jonesboro [Motion:
Grider, 2nd: Wenz]. Council unanimously approved participation as
a Heritage Partner with Historical Jonesboro requiring a donation of $4000. [Motion: Mann, 2nd: Grider]. Council approved the Fee
Schedule for 2007 [Motion: Grider, 2nd:
Maddox; Yea: Grider, Maddox, Wenz,
Yonce- No: Mann, Wiggins].
Council voted unanimously to approve the Budget for 2007 [Motion:
Wenz, 2nd: Maddox ]. The Council unanimously endorsed
the placement of the Civil War Heritage Trail marker in Dickson Park, exact
location to be determined by a joint effort between the city and GCWHT [Motion:
Wenz, 2nd: Yonce]. Council unanimously approved a Home Occupation
at 1465 Brownleaf Drive [Motion: Grider, 2nd:
Mann]. Home Occupation at 107
Batiste Park Road was unanimously approved [Motion:
