CITY
OF JONESBORO The City of Jonesboro Mayor and Council held their monthly
council meeting on Monday, February 12, 2007.
The meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. at the Jonesboro Police Station, 170
South Main Street, Jonesboro, Georgia. Council Present: Roger Grider Luther Maddox Clarence Mann Linda Wenz Bobby Wiggins Rick Yonce
Mayor Joy Day Staff Present:
Sam Durrance, Public Works Director; Wayne Rowland, Chief of Police. Mayor Day called the meeting to order, followed by the
pledge of allegiance. Minutes of
the January 2007 meeting were approved as written. [January 8, 2007 meeting,
Regular Council Meeting, Motion:
Wenz, 2nd:
Wiggins - Vote: Unanimous]. Old Business – Consideration of Daily Siren in City
(12:00) p.m. [Motion to sound a siren
daily at 12:00 p.m, Monday - Saturday; Motion: Wiggins, 2nd: Yonce;
Yes: Maddox, Mann, Wiggins, Yonce,
No: Grider Wenz]. The Council voted unanimously to go into Executive Session
to discuss, personnel matters and possible real estate acquisition (Annexation)
pending state study on Tara Blvd. [Motion:
Maddox, 2nd: Grider, Vote: Unanimous].
Following Executive Session, the Council voted unanimously to resume
regular session [Motion: Mann, 2nd:
Grider, Vote: Unanimous].
Public comments were delivered by Monique Henderson, and Barbara
Emert. The meeting agenda was
amended unanimously in order to add four items. [Motion:
Grider, 2nd,: Maddox, Vote: Unanimous].
The Council approved the following items (C – K) on the amended agenda: ·
Considered the equipment issue of a broken concrete saw owned by
Jon Crane and voted to approve payment for repair in the amount of $500. [Motion:
Grider, 2nd: Maddox; Yes: Grider, Yonce, Maddox, Mann; No:
Wenz, Wiggins], Approved. ·
Considered the variance request for T & T Uniforms, 285 North
Main Street. [Motion: Grider, 2 nd:
Wenz, Vote: Unanimous]. ·
Considered the business license request for the Home Occupation -
Big Step Services 102 Woodland Drive, Stephen Taylor, Owner. [Motion:
Yonce, 2nd: Wenz, Vote: Unanimous]. ·
Considered the business license request for the Home Occupation
– Williams & Williams Bath, Inc., 122 Evenview Drive, Carlton and Lavoya
Williams, owners. [Motion:
Maddox, 2nd: Mann, Vote: Unanimous]. ·
Considered the business license request for the Home Occupation
– Williams VIP Services, Carlton and Lavoya Williams, owners.
[Motion: Mann, 2nd: Yonce, Vote:
Unanimous]. ·
Considered the Disorderly Conduct Ordinance. [Motion:
Maddox, 2nd: Wenz, Vote: Unanimous]. ·
Considered the Resolution appointing Sandra Meyers as City
Treasurer. [Motion: Maddox, 2nd: Wiggins, Vote:
Unanimous].
The meeting was adjourned by unanimous vote [Motion:
